This Ontario home combines a glass enclosed staircase, stone walls, wood beams, animal patterns, and traditional rugs to convey the homeowner’s strong connection with nature. Engineered random width (6 to 10-inch) hardwood was the perfect choice for this property owner. She knew that engineered floors would be a more stable floor for her location — waterfront acreage with seasonal changes. Engineered Hickory is also durable enough to hold up to lots of traffic from a busy, active families and pets, and the proportions of wide planks are ideal for homes with soaring ceilings and large open spaces. To create a more natural appearance she chose to add Carlisle’s “Timeworn” texture to the boards. This custom surface treatment adds character to the boards and mimics the highly-sought-after wear pattern typically found in much loved older properties. In addition to the custom texture, Carlisle was able to create the perfect stain color and to pre-finish the floor prior to delivery. The family now has a spectacular custom floor that provides unity for the interior design and brings a sense of warmth to the space.
