Yoga Flooring

The beauty of wide plank yoga flooring

The flooring in a yoga room today can be made with many types of materials – from bamboo and eucalyptus to cork, rubber, vinyl and laminates. But for truly stunning yoga flooring that offers the perfect balance of visual appeal, durability and ease of maintenance, nothing beats a wide plank hardwood floor.

Wide plank floors are made with floorboards that are anywhere from 4″ to 20″ in width and up to 12′ in length. These wider, longer boards create far fewer seams in the floor, giving the room a more spacious and elegant feel. And wide plank yoga flooring reveals more of the personality of the hardwood, Pine or reclaimed timber, creating a surface that’s a true pleasure on which to practice yoga.

At Carlisle Wide Plank Floors, you’ll find lots of options for the wood, structure, color and texture of wide plank yoga flooring. Our design consultants can help you explore the benefits of hardwood vs. laminate floors, the durability of bamboo flooring vs. Oak, and the longevity of tile vs. hardwood flooring. We’ll explain the differences in solid vs. engineered floors and Herringbone vs. Chevron patterns. And we’ll help you design wide plank yoga flooring that will be a central design element of your space for years to come.

What is the best flooring for a yoga studio?

Yoga flooring can be made from a variety of materials – the best yoga flooring for your space depends in part on preference and usage. Some prefer the softer feel of cork or rubber, while others appreciate how easily wood floors can be cleaned and how long they’ll last. For long-lasting yoga flooring that combines a beautiful appearance with ease of maintenance, many homeowners opt for a wide plank hardwood floor.

What is engineered hardwood yoga flooring?

Engineered floorboards are ideal for yoga rooms below grade. Engineered boards are made with several layers of material that are glued to a top layer of hardwood, creating a floorboard that’s more resistant to moisture and changes in relative humidity.

Making your yoga flooring your own

In addition to a choice of hardwood, Pine and reclaimed wood, you’ll have lots of ways to customize your yoga flooring to create a stunning and singular surface.

The grade of your wood will have a big impact on the personality of your floor. Our Original Grade floorboards show more knots, mineral streaks and variation in the color and grain of the wood. Our Heirloom Grade features fewer variations for a more formal appearance. And our Signature Blend is a 50/50 balance of the two.

Depending on the type of wood you select, you can choose floorboards that range in width from 4″ to 20″ – 8″ is the average width of a Carlisle floor. Wider floorboards will feel more spacious and luxurious. Consistent widths will offer a more formal appearance, while varying or random widths will produce a more rustic or casual feel.

In addition to solid hardwood, we offer a wide range of engineered hardwood floors that are perfect for basement flooring, wine cellar flooring or installation on concrete slabs and over radiant heat.

You’ll have a wide range of color choices for your yoga flooring from Carlisle. Unlike many of our competitors, we offer a virtually unlimited choice in stain colors, along with clear and amber finishes that can preserve the natural color of the wood of your choice.

Texturing your floors gives new floorboards the look of planks that were cut at early sawmills or that have been worn down by generations of foot traffic. And installing your floor with a pattern can add a sense of luxury and visual appeal to any room.
