Carlisle’s Maya King Receives State Award for Wellness Efforts
Since she became our Human Resources Manager, Maya King has brought a wide range of programs to Carlisle to enhance the health and wellness of our 95 employees. From digital detoxes to weight loss challenges to a company cookbook filled with recipes for healthy home cooking, Maya has made getting and staying healthy fun.
Her efforts were recognized earlier this year when she received an Outstanding Achievement Award from New Hampshire’s Governor’s Council on Physical Activity and Health. We are so proud that Maya’s commitment and creativity were recognized with the Council’s Worksite Wellness Individual Award.
About the Council’s Outstanding Achievement Awards
Since it was formed in 1991, New Hampshire’s Governor’s Council on Physical Activity and Health has promoted a healthy, active lifestyle for all the state’s citizens. The Council is comprised of representatives from state agencies, health care, the business community, education, older adult organizations, and other organizations and individuals committed to enhancing the health of NH citizens by encouraging an active lifestyle.
The Outstanding Achievement Awards (OAA) are given annually by the Council to individuals and organizations who have accomplished outstanding achievements in promoting healthy lifestyles. Maya joins an impressive group of individuals and organizations who are enhancing the health of Granite Staters.

Maya has been a Carlisle employee for more than 18 years and has overseen our Wellness Committee since 2018. The committee’s top priority is to support the physical and mental health of employees. Maya refers to entrepreneur Richard Branson’s quote “Take care of your employees and they will take care of the clients” to explain Carlisle’s commitment to wellness. “Our employees’ wellness is good for them, but also good for our clients and good for us as a company,” Maya explains.
Maya says that more than a quarter of Carlisle employees actively participate in the Wellness Program with “more people getting involved every day.” Monthly activities with raffle prizes have been particularly popular, and employees appreciate wellness webinars hosted by Carlisle’s health insurance broker and regular information on health topics provided by the company’s insurance carrier.
The Wellness Committee often combines wellness activities with community service, such as picking up trash along a roadway for Earth Day or participating in a run to support a local cause or individual. “Our company goal is to provide 500 annual hours of community service and to have a healthier workforce. When we can do both at the same time, it is so rewarding,” Maya says.
Since creating the wellness program, Maya and her team have kept health insurance premiums stable, increased productivity, and engaged all employees across 10 states and many different departments in wellness activities.
